I would like to state for the record that Jude Law makes a fabulous Hamlet: energetic, nimble in mind and body, and perfectly intelligible even in a whisper or a roar.

I hope that students get to see this production; if nothing else, it’ll convince them that the gravediggers’ dialogue is actually funny. I laughed much more than I expected, since the actors found comedy in the dialogue that I never spotted when I read the play. Hell, I giggled at the line I used for the entry title, since the one word was first a declaration, then a temporization, and finally a reassertion of his first stance.

I’d like to write more, but it’s late and I need to get up early — for me on a Sunday, that is — to prep for the Jazz Age Lawn Party, so good night. (No angels required.)
